The RBT Role

An RBT is a paraprofessional credential. RBTs deliver behavior-analytic services under close supervision and follow individualized plans developed by a qualified supervisor.

How to Get Certified as an RBT
Beyond Behavior provides comprehensive training designed to meet the RBT training requirement. Certification also involves eligibility checks, an initial competency assessment, an application, and an examination.
Review current BACB certification requirements. Training must meet the current curriculum; certification is awarded by the BACB, not by the employer.
1. Meet eligibility requirements
Review the BACB’s current eligibility and background requirements before beginning the certification process.
2. Complete training and assessment
Complete the required 40-hour training and initial competency assessment with qualified professionals.
3. Apply, test, and maintain
Submit the BACB application, pass the examination, and maintain certification through required supervision, ethics, and ongoing requirements.
Qualifications
Beyond Behavior hires Behavior Technicians for one-to-one ABA services with children with autism. Team members implement individualized plans under BCBA supervision, record objective daily data and session notes, and communicate closely with supervisors and teammates.
Basic qualifications
- At least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Available at least 15 hours per week
- Able to pass criminal and caregiver background checks
- Experience with children with developmental disabilities is preferred, but not required
